Duties
Duties and Responsibilities: *Nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.
- Acting as direct support to administration and staff across SASED school districts and programs
- Representing SASED by using best practice principals, systems and approaches across districts and programs
- Maintaining a case load of up to 30 individual student referrals
- Interfacing and collaborating with parents and administration relevant to caseload
- Conducting Functional Assessments, as needed, to support case loads regarding instruction and behavior intervention plans (BIPs)
- Providing dynamic modeling of instructional and behavioral interventions using the trainer of trainer model
- Monitoring progress of implementation of plans and strategies with data
- Providing written reports, behavior and crisis plans as needed and pertinent to case load
- Maintaining confidentiality and attention to case load
- Collaboration and conferring with supervisor regarding cases, presentations and projects
- Maintaining collegial and supportive relationships with IST colleagues
- Supporting dissemination and modeling of best practices through day-to-day collaboration
- Attending meetings for students on individual case load
- Documenting data for students on individual case load
- Responding to crisis using physical intervention management strategies
- Supporting teams in physical management strategies through in-services
- Maintaining professional development and growth in areas related to instruction, behavior, mental health, legal implications and special education
- Maintaining practices that meet the legal requirements of IDEA 2004
- Preparing materials, handouts and binders for presentations
- Creating original materials and documents for instruction and in-services
- Maintaining general office order and organization regarding materials and equipment
- Attending staff meetings
- Maintaining positive and supportive relationships with other branches of SASED
- Willingness to attend trainings in contemporary best practice models and to skillfully adapt, disseminate and advocate these practices into daily collaboration
- Willingness to attend trainings in state models as recommended by RtI and PbIS and to incorporate ,as needed and appropriate, into professional practice
Qualifications
Job Goal: A member of the Instructional Support Team will provide:
- Direct support to district administration, staff and students using dynamic collaboration and consultation under the “trainer of trainer” model
- Dissemination and implementation of best practice strategies
- In-service education across various areas and topics related to general and special education systems, processes and instruction.
- Advocate, as appropriate, for districts, parents, teachers and/or students regarding technical and best practice recommendations
Qualifications:
- Masters Degree required with experience in Applied Behavior Analysis, Functional Assessment, Educational Psychology, Social Work, Special Education or related area.
- Understanding of the legal requirements under IDEA 2004
- Experience in working with students with special needs
- Experience in working with students with challenging behavior
- Familiarity of characteristics of a wide range of disabilities
- Experience in instructional design and modifications
- Experience in conducting Functional Assessments
- Applied practice in strategy implementation related to disabilities and behavior
- Understanding of data systems and designs
- Familiarity with systems within educational settings
- Independent work ethic for self management of schedule
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Excellent organizational and writing skills
- Excellent presentation skills
- Willingness to travel to district sites

Additional Notes
Terms of Employment: 195 day work year at compensation set by the SASED Board of Directors.
Physical Requirements: Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift, move and/or support up to 50 pounds (and/or up to adult size body weight with two-to-three person lift). Position can require some degree of physical interaction with students who have difficulty controlling physical behavior.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated every year until tenure has been achieved. Once tenure is earned, performance will be evaluated every other year by the Program Administrator in accordance with the SASED Board of Directors policy on evaluation for certified staff.
