Duties

General Responsibilities: 

The Human Resource Assistant provides administrative support to the Human Resources department by managing employee records, assisting with recruitment, scheduling interviews, processing new hires, tracking employee attendance, and handling general employee questions, all while ensuring compliance with company policies and labor laws; essentially acting as a key point of contact for employees regarding HR matters.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
  • Answers questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc; refers more complex questions to appropriate HR staff.
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
  • Performs audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Assists with the onboarding of all staff.
  • Assists with new hire and substitute orientations.
  • Assists with planning and execution of special events such as organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, and retirement celebrations.
  • Conducts background checks and employee history reviews.
  • Oversees the configuration and implementation of EvaluWise, GCN, and Navigation 360; maintains various HR databases (Frontline, TalentEd, IVEE, etc.)
  • Oversees employee compliance training.
  • Compiles, analyzes, and generates customized reports for the purpose of workforce planning, negotiations, or other human resources needs.
  • Serve as a liaison and information resource for employees.
  • Oversee the HR budget. 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources.

 

 

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:    

  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with departments, administrators, school officials, and employees
  • Authentic, effective, and professional communication style including the ability to communicate effectively in person and by email and phone
  • Ability to use time effectively and efficiently while managing multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently and in a self-directed manner
  • Proficiency with Google Suite
  • Bilingual/fluency in Spanish preferred

EDUCATION, CREDENTIALING and/or EXPERIENCE:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in human resources-related field or equivalent training and experience required

Experience: Minimum of two years of employee experience in a HR related field; Minimum of two years of experience in leave and benefits administration

Salary/Benefits

Salary: $60,000

Benefits:per HESS contract
