Duties

To provide excellence in education by establishing an environment that facilitates student learning, encourages the realization of personal potential, and contributes to students’ development as mature, able, and responsible adults.

Qualifications

  1. Appropriate Illinois teaching license with Special Education endorsement/approval.
  2. An undergraduate and/or graduate degree in special education including training and experience with the inclusion model.
  3. Recent experience teaching in a middle school special education setting preferred.
  4. Enthusiasm for both subject matter and for working with exceptional children.
  5. Supportive, creative individual who has solid background in child development and has the efficiency and organization to put creative ideas to maximum use in an individualized classroom.
  6. The ability to communicate effectively and regularly with students as well as their parents.
  7. The ability to work cooperatively with colleagues to communicate effectively with them on a daily basis, and to work cooperatively and energetically in a team setting.
  8. A high energy level and willingness to devote the time required of the position. Enthusiasm and desire to be active in all phases of school life.
  9. Demonstrates the desire and ability to collaborate with teachers of all disciplines.

Salary/Benefits

Salary and fringe benefits will be established in accordance with the Winnetka Public Schools School Board and the WEA Professional Agreement.
