Duties
Description: School Social Worker for Highland School District No. 5 housed at Highland High School, serving Highland High School and Highland Middle School. (Full-time) (Position could start in January 2025 or sooner of qualified)
Applicants must have the following knowledge and abilities:
Knowledge of:
- Individual and group behavior, including the effect of trauma on an individual.
- Physical, intellectual, social and emotional growth patterns of students.
- Principles and techniques of interviewing and assessing students in a variety of situations.
- Crisis intervention/Prevention.
- Knowledge of and collaboration with outside agencies/community resources.
- Principles of individual and group counseling, including trauma informed practices/techniques.
- Able to keep documentation and collect data on students.
- Participate in extra curricular/sponsor opportunities as needed.
Ability to:
- Work collaboratively with a team, including school psychologist, Special Ed and General Ed teachers, Administrators, Director of Special Services, other social workers, etc.
- Provide crisis intervention.
- Provide individual/group counseling for students.
- Push-in to classrooms for students with disabilities to provide lessons on social/emotional functioning.
- Provide health and wellness education for all students on a regular basis, including activities that foster social, emotional, and academic well-being.
- Conduct necessary components for case study evaluations, including the Functional Behavioral Assessment and the Behavior Intervention Plan.
- Participate in IEP meetings, write IEPs according to district guidelines, and meet district and state timelines for paperwork.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Maintain accurate, complete and confidential records.
- Participate in Crisis Prevention/Intervention training.
- Collaborate with community agencies as a resource to meet student and school needs.
- Participate in staff development and school improvement activities in order to maintain professional growth.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including completion of Medicaid billing on a monthly basis.
Qualifications
Qualifications: Professional Educator's license with School Social Work endorsement
