Duties
Pontiac Township High School is seeking a full-time band teacher to be a co-director. The current director is retiring in three years and we are looking to create a smooth transition by bringing in a co-director at this time. Applicants must be skilled in working with student accommodations, classroom and behavior management, developing lesson plans for diverse needs, and individualizing instruction based upon students' unique communication and cognitive needs. Effective communication, the ability to build positive and appropriate relationships with students, and strong collaboration skills with other professionals are essential to this position.
Course load will involve marching band, concert/symphonic bands, AP music theory, music theory, and other duties within the music program. The final schedule will be dependent upon student needs.
Qualifications
Applicant must hold a valid Illinois Teaching License, pass a physical examination by a licensed physician, and pass a criminal background check.
Salary/Benefits
Base salary for the 2024 - 2025 school year is $41,674 with board paid TRS, employee medical insurance, and dental insurance.
