Duties
Assists teacher with classroom activities to ensure academic and behavioral functioning of assigned student. This position will work within the school program serving special education youth. The ideal staff member not only understands the particular challenges experienced by a special education student, but also has a particular affinity for working with special education students. A one on one aide provides assistance to an assigned student on a daily basis, with extensive interaction. A one on one aide is an integral part of a student's instructional team and works with classroom teacher to provide academic and behavior support to assigned student. 32.5 hrs/week.
Qualifications
Paraprofessional Certificate or eligibility to obtain certificate is required at the time of application. Paraprofessional Certificates must be obtained by the employee start date. Classroom experience strongly preferred. Experience with children with Autism, children exposed to trauma, and skill in signing are highly desirable.
