Duties

1. Works directly with teachers throughout the district to implement curriculum and instructional methods in the classroom.
2. Plans and organizes professional development for the district.
3. Facilitates curriculum adoption processes for the district.
4. Assists in the determination of types of programs needed by the schools and makes appropriate recommendations.
5. Supervises the work of developing and improving the curricula and the instructional programs.
6. Encourages experimental and innovative programs that will improve instruction.
7. Coordinates district-wide testing for measuring the effectiveness of the total educational program.
8. Assists the Superintendent in directing the administration and coordination of the district's educational programs.
9. Coordinates the teacher induction and mentoring program.
10. Participates in professional growth opportunities.
11. Attends Board meetings and prepares such reports for the Board as the Superintendent may request.
12. Interprets the programs, philosophy, and policies of the district to staff, students, and the community at large.
13. Communicates to the Superintendent the requirements and needs of the district as perceived by staff members.
14. Informs, interprets, and recommends to the Superintendent the effects of current and pending state legislation.
15. Assists in obtaining outside funding through grant planning, applications, and amendments
16. Participates in district meetings and such other meetings as are required or appropriate.
17. Works with designated committees of teachers, principals, and lay persons in specific programs, projects, or courses of action.
18. Guides curricular decisions including course offerings, course content, and the selection of materials.
19. Ensures that established curriculum is being implemented with fidelity.
20. Plans and executes professional development to support curricular decisions.
21. Assists with teacher evaluations.

22. Implements teacher mentoring plan.
23. Assists with the integration of technology in instruction.
24. Plans and executes professional development to address instructional needs.
25. Manages all existing grant programs.
26. Seeks new grant opportunities.
27. Performs all other duties necessary to the office and such other duties as may be assigned by the Board of Education or the Superintendent of Schools.

Qualifications

1. Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction or School Administration.
2. Hold a valid Illinois professional educator license (PEL) with an Administrative Endorsement
3. Five (5) years teaching experience.
4. Two years school administrative experience, preferred.
5. Familiar with use of computers including but not limited to electronic mail, Internet, word processing and electronic spreadsheets (Microsoft Office).
6. Establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with those contacted in the course of work (students, parents, and staff).
7. Ability to communicate to students, parents, and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner.
8. Must be able to work as a team, including sharing ideas.
9. Knowledge of and support for appropriate skills in teaching children as well as educators and adults.
10. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.
11. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the district may find appropriate and acceptable.

Salary/Benefits

  • Base salary range $65,000 to $75,000 depending on experience.
  • 11 month contract, beginning on July 1 and ending on June 30.
  • Board paid TRS and Single pay Health Care.
  • 13 sick days and 2 personal days.

Additional Notes

The primary functions of the Curriculum Coordinator are to work directly with teachers to implement curriculum and instructional methods in the classroom, plan and organize professional development for the district, and facilitate curriculum adoption processes.
