Duties

  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated. 
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. 
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to students, as adopted by the local and state Board of Education. 
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation, pertaining to teachers and students. 
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner. 
  • Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms. 
  • Continuously strives to improve professional competence and collaboration with colleagues and communities. 
  • Attends staff meetings, serves on staff committees, and performs duties prescribed by administration and CBA. 
  • Implements all rules and regulations, policies and administrative guidelines as adopted by the School Board for the district. 
  • Maintains regular attendance, and a professional appearance.
  • Develop and implement an appropriate IEP to assess each student’s progress on assigned caseload. 
  • Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher assistants and/or volunteers and evaluate their job performance.
  • Develop and coordinate appropriate instructional materials, units and supplemental resources for delivery of instruction.
  • Develop, modify, or adapt materials and assignments of the classroom curriculum to meet individual needs within an inclusionary setting.
  • Present lessons and activities incorporating an introduction, statement of objectives, and summation.
  • Provide opportunity for student feedback, guided practice, and independent practice.
  • Lesson presentation incorporates different modalities of instruction.
  • Evaluate student performance and implement remedial strategies as needed.
  • Provide instruction, implementing the IEP, assisting students as indicated by circumstances.
  • In an inclusionary setting, implement the IEP, provide instruction, team teach, and assist students as indicated by circumstances.
  • Complete and submit required forms and reports on time.
  • Attend and participate in conferences regarding students.
