Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning

Duties

  • Leads curriculum review, assessment, and revision process throughout the district
  • Supervises the evaluation of existing learning programs offered in the district
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring, and revision of Key Success Factors #1 and #2 in the District 27 Strategic Plan.
  • Supervises and evaluates the district's curriculum and instructional technology coordinators
  • Develops and assists principals with creating innovative programs that show promise of leading to broader curricular change.
  • Develops and coordinates state and district testing programs. Compiles information and prepares reports on these assessments for the Board of Education, the community, and our schools
  • Coordinates state testing program. 
  • Responsible for the verification of state testing data, ordering materials, and organizing the distribution of materials.
  • Coordinates services with other school districts in the township, maintaining a professional relationship with curriculum administrators in those districts.
  • Serves as curriculum representative in school board and district administrative meetings; coordinates curriculum and instruction activities with building principals and their staff
  • Serves as the lead for the district Professional Development Committee (PDC), planning the work sessions and communicating those plans with membership.
  • Develops, in consultation with the PDC, and plans long-term professional development for district staff.  Implements short-term professional development.  Assists building-level leadership in determining long-term plans.
  • Completes all grant applications, budgets, and amendments in coordination with the assistant superintendent of finance and operations.
  • Ensures compliance with state-mandated areas of study 
  • Stays well-informed regarding current local, state, and federal laws regarding curriculum, assessment, and instruction; stays abreast of state and federal public policy changes that could impact NB27
  • Performs various duties assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with administrative endorsement
  2. Current Illinois Teacher Evaluator training 
  3. A minimum of eight years of progressively responsible experience in teaching and educational administration
  4. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  5. Deep knowledge of curriculum development and alignment
  6. Ability to travel between Hickory Point, Shabonee, and Wood Oaks Schools several times per week 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. At least three years of curriculum and instruction administrative work 
  2. Doctoral degree in the area of curriculum and instruction

Salary/Benefits

Salary range for this position is between $140,000 and $160,000, commensurate with experience. This position comes with an excellent benefits package, including Board of Education-paid family health and dental benefits, Board of Education-paid TRS contributions, a travel allowance, a term life insurance policy, 20 vacation days, 16 sick days, and 3 personal days.
