Duties
The superintendent is expected to be the chief executive officer and provide professional and educational leadership to the school district.
District Overview & Culture
- Location & Structure: Liberty Community Unit School District #2 is a single-building, PK–12 district located in Liberty, Illinois, serving 533 students across a 162-square-mile coverage area. Known for strong academics, student leadership development, a high-quality curriculum, and supportive social-emotional well-being for ALL.
- Educational Philosophy: Under its motto, “Soar to Excellence, Every student, Every day!” the district aligns its curriculum with Illinois state standards and the state literacy and numeracy plan, placing strong emphasis on critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork.
- Specialized Programs: Offers hands-on, innovative learning opportunities, including STEM, drone flight/coding, an Entrepreneur course, an Educational Pathway, and various extracurricular programs and interventions. Continuously exploring out-of-the-box experiences to engage students.

Leadership Requirements & Goals
- Role & Qualifications: The district is seeking a long-term superintendent with administrative and teaching experience who holds (or will obtain by May 2027) an Illinois superintendent license.
- Leadership Style: We are looking for a transformational and servant leader who can empower staff, delegate effectively, strategically align goals, secure program funding/resources, and maintain a positive culture. A leader who can inspire, encourage, develop, and embrace the talent staff brings to the learning environment.
Qualifications
Current IL Superintendent Licensure, and teaching and administrative experience.
Salary/Benefits
The Board expects to offer a salary in the range of $110,000-$140,000 and a competitive benefits package including: sick days, vacation days, personal days, health insurance, life insurance, TRS/THIS contributions, professional membership dues. The total compensation package will be based on successful experience and education. The initial contract will be for a multi-year period, as authorized by Illinois statutes.
