Duties
The AlWood Community School District #225 is seeking a motivated, student-centered educational leader to serve as the principal of AlWood Elementary School, beginning July 1, 2027. AlWood Elementary School is a preschool through 5th grade building. The chosen candidate will train with the current principal throughout this school year as he transitions to the superintendent role, beginning July 1, 2027.
For this principal position, the candidate will be expected to:
- Provide instructional leadership that promotes high levels of student achievement and continuous school improvement.
- Supervise, support, and evaluate certified and non-certified staff.
- Develop and maintain a positive school climate that encourages student success, staff collaboration, and family engagement.
- Possess strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Lead curriculum implementation, instructional practices, assessment initiatives, and school improvement aligned with district goals.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and district policies, regulations, and procedures.
- Manage school operations, scheduling, budgeting, and student discipline, amongst other duties.
- Be a visionary and utilize a collaborative leadership style with district administration, staff, parents, and community stakeholders.
- Be intrinsically motivated to multitask various duties simultaneously.
- Have knowledge of current educational practices, instructional strategies, and school improvement processes.
- Foster a culture of continuous growth and student achievement.
- Demonstrate a commitment to personal professional growth and lifelong learning.
- Promote equity, inclusion, and access to opportunities for all students.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Salary/Benefits
Salary and benefits will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience in accordance with district policies and contractual agreements.
