Position Summary
Harmony-Emge School District #175 is seeking a collaborative and student-centered Behavior Interventionist to support students with behavioral, social-emotional, and developmental needs across the district. The Behavior Interventionist designs, implements, and supports evidence-based behavioral interventions that reduce challenging behaviors while increasing positive, prosocial behaviors. This position works directly with students and partners with teachers, administrators, related service providers, and families to build staff capacity and create supportive learning environments where all students can succeed.
The Behavior Interventionist serves as a coach, consultant, and resource for staff by promoting research-based behavioral practices, supporting MTSS and special education initiatives, and ensuring interventions are implemented with fidelity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Student Support and Behavioral Assessment
- Observe students in a variety of educational settings to assess behavioral concerns.
- Collect, organize, and analyze behavioral data to identify patterns, triggers, and the function of behavior.
- Develop written observation summaries and recommendations to support student success.
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions based on data.
Behavior Planning and Intervention
- Collaborate with school teams to develop, implement, and monitor Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
- Provide evidence-based behavioral strategies and interventions individualized to student needs.
- Model effective behavior intervention techniques within classrooms and other school environments.
- Support teachers and related service providers in implementing behavior plans with fidelity.
- Assist in the development and delivery of social skills instruction and positive behavior supports.
Collaboration and Consultation
- Serve as a behavioral consultant to teachers, administrators, paraprofessionals, school psychologists, social workers, and other support staff.
- Participate in IEP meetings and provide behavioral recommendations when appropriate.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to problem-solve student behavioral concerns.
- Support the implementation of the district's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework.
- Partner with families to support consistent behavioral expectations between home and school when appropriate.
Professional Learning and Staff Development
- Provide coaching, training, and professional development for district staff on evidence-based behavior management strategies.
- Model classroom management techniques and provide ongoing feedback to staff.
- Participate in district and professional learning opportunities to remain current with research and best practices.
- Maintain required licensure and participate in all mandatory district training.
Compliance and District Responsibilities
- Assist staff with crisis response planning, behavioral documentation, and referrals to outside agencies when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, records, reports, and required data.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, Illinois School Code, IDEA, Section 504, and district policies.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA and district expectations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
