Assistant Director of Professional Development APPLY ONLINE

Duties

  • Assist the Director of Professional Development in planning and implementing countywide professional learning programs and services.
  • Conduct annual professional development needs assessments to identify district and educator priorities.
  • Serve as a primary contact for educator inquiries regarding professional development opportunities and requirements.
  • Coordinate communication and scheduling with presenters, consultants, and participating districts.
  • Recruit, support, and maintain relationships with current and prospective professional development presenters and consultants.
  • Support the development and expansion of educator networks, learning communities, and leadership programs.
  • Stay informed regarding emerging trends, research, and best practices in professional learning and educator development.
  • Assist in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Education-Innovation-Service Center.
  • Develop and maintain procedures that support efficient program delivery and customer service.
  • Coordinate presenter contracts and related documentation.
  • Support management of online professional development registration, recordkeeping, and reporting systems.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of conferences, workshops, academies, and special events.
  • Establish and maintain efficient workflows and procedures for presenters and participants.
  • Conduct annual audits of district professional development providers in accordance with ISBE requirements.
  • Prepare and submit required professional development reports and documentation to ISBE.
  • Maintain accurate professional development records and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and policies.
  • Assist the Director with supervision, training, and evaluation of assigned EISC staff.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and performance management activities as directed.
  • Promote a collaborative and service-oriented work environment.
  • Coordinate the administration of the Will County Mini-Grant program, including application processing, budget tracking, and reporting.
  • Assist with budget monitoring and fiscal management of professional development programs.
  • Participate in Area 1 Professional Development Directors meetings and other regional or statewide professional learning networks.
  • Attend and present at Superintendent Breakfast meetings and other events as requested.
  • Represent the EISC and Regional Office of Education at meetings, conferences, and professional organizations as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, Professional Development, or a related field required.
  • Doctorate preferred.
  • Experience coordinating professional development in an educational environment, including designing, delivering, and evaluating professional development aligned with Illinois State Board of Education standards.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Illinois professional development requirements and ISBE standards.
  • Experience managing projects, timelines, and multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and related productivity tools.
  • Experience with professional development management systems, learning management systems, or similar technology platforms preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with educators, school personnel, vendors, and community partners.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.

Salary/Benefits

Starting at $80,000 - $90,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience

The Assistant Director of Professional Development supports the Director of Professional Development in the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of professional learning opportunities provided through the Education-Innovation-Service Center (EISC). The position assists with daily operations, program management, compliance activities, and stakeholder engagement to ensure high-quality professional development services for educators throughout Will County.

The Assistant Director serves as a key liaison to school districts, presenters, consultants, and educational partners while supporting the Regional Office of Education's mission to provide responsive, innovative, and impactful professional learning opportunities.
