Duties
The Superintendent is expected to be the chief executive officer and provide high level professional and educational leadership to the school district.
Qualifications
Candidates will be evaluated on their professional merits and successful experience with emphasis on the following:
- Leads with integrity.
- Ability to work cooperatively with the Board of Education.
- Ability to maximize financial resources in support of educational programs of the District.
- Ability to analyze current situations, initiate appropriate action and inform the Board of Education when advisable.
- Ability to work in the area of human relations. The District seeks a person who will establish a positive presence in the community.
- Ability to involve appropriate members of the staff in support of desirable educational changes.
- Demonstrates understanding of labor relations and the management of the negotiated contract.
- Ability to lead the District to reach the goals established and outlined in the District's strategic plan.
- Has a willingness to innovate and encourage others to innovate, while remaining accountable to the Board of Education and the community he/she serves.
- A sincere appreciation of the teaching and learning process.
Salary/Benefits
It is anticipated that the compensation will be in the range of $195,000 - $229,000. The actual annual salary, fringe benefits, contractual terms and conditions will be discussed in detail with the final candidates and will be based on education and prior experience. It is expected that the initial contract will be for a multi-year period, as authorized by Illinois statutes.
