Duties

The Middle School Special Education Teacher (Inclusion Facilitator) provides specialized instruction, consultation, and support to students with disabilities in inclusive classroom settings. Working collaboratively with general education teachers and related service providers, the Inclusion Facilitator ensures students receive appropriate accommodations, modifications, and specially designed instruction to successfully access the general education curriculum.

The Inclusion Facilitator is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), promoting inclusive instructional practices, supporting positive student outcomes, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and district special education requirements.

Qualifications

  • State of Illinois fingerprinting and background check in compliance with state code and district policy requirements. A fingerprint-based criminal history records check and a check of the Statewide Sex Offender Database and Violent Offender Against Youth Database (when available) will be performed on the successful candidate as required by State law. Each newly hired employee must complete an Immigration and Naturalization Service Form as required by federal law.
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience working with middle school students with disabilities in inclusive educational settings preferred.
  • Knowledge of IDEA, Illinois Learning Standards, IEP development and implementation, MTSS, differentiated instruction, co-teaching models, and positive behavior supports.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, paraprofessionals, and families.
  • Strong organizational, communication, classroom management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.

Salary/Benefits

Salary and benefits will be in accordance with the CCSD 180 collective bargaining agreement.
