Duties
The Special Education Aide assists certified staff in providing instructional, behavioral, social-emotional, and personal support services to students with disabilities. The aide works under the direction of special education teachers and administrators to help students access the educational environment and make progress toward their individual educational goals.
Location: Unity East Elementary School or Unity West Elementary School (Final placement will be determined following student registration and staffing needs.)
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Illinois Paraprofessional License or ability to obtain licensure prior to employment.
• Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
• Previous experience working with children is preferred but not required.
Salary/Benefits
Salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience as determined by a competitive salary schedule. Employees of Unity High School will qualify for tuition reimbursement at the University of their choice, paid individual health care, paid TRS, will take part in an extensive new employee mentoring program and teachers living outside the district may tuition their children into our district at no charge.
