Anticipated: High/Middle School Guidance Counselor APPLY ONLINE

Duties

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBLITIES:

  1. Provide teachers with appropriate student personal information including academic and credit standing.
  2. Make occupational and college information available to students and parents.
  3. Review records, recommend placements and orientate new students.
  4. Organize and supervise all academic and dual credit enrollment testing.
  5. Help plan and participate in parent nights, college nights, and career oriented field trips as appropriate to grade level.
  6. Interview and counsel students who are dropping out of school.
  7. Provide information about individual students to colleges and potential employers. Specifically, the counselor will assist students in completing college applications and write letters of recommendation for scholarship, etc.
  8. Responsible for coordinating all testing programs.
  9. Helps students with academic, personal, social, and emotional problems and/or makes referrals when and where appropriate and necessary.
  10. Work with building principal in the development of the high school master schedule.
  11. Serve as Homeless liason.
  12. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  13. Collects information for scholarships and dispenses to students in a timely and efficient manner.
  14. Completes all relevant forms for students applying to colleges/universities and military service and applying for scholarships and after school related activities.
  15. Coordinate supplying information to the state student information system.
  16. Meet all requirements of the evaluation plan.
  17. Coordinate and facilitate parent/teacher meetings.
  18. 504 Plan Coordinator.

 

Qualifications

  1.  An earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or
       university.
  2.  A valid professional educator license issued by the ISBE Division of Educator
       Certification, Recertification and Preparation.
  3.  Meet the recognition standards governing preparation in the subjects
       or area in which assigned as outlined by the State of Illinois.
  4.  Master’s Degree in School Counseling
