General Music Teacher K-8

Duties

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop and deliver music education curriculum for K-8 grade students.
  • Cooperation with Building Principal and staff in providing musical programs for school assemblies, open house, parent meetings and seasonal programs.
  • Plan and collaborates with teachers.
  • Integrate technology into lessons.
  • Confers with students, parents, and school personnel to resolve student problems.
  • Communicates student progress with parents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Selects instructional goals for class and for individual students

Qualifications

General Music Teacher

Reports to: Principal

Job Summary:

The music teacher develops in each pupil an appreciation of the art of music as part of general culture; teaches techniques of vocal and/or instrumental music expression; develops talents of pupils in the field of music; develops knowledge and skills in listening to and reading music.

Qualifications:

  1. Valid Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator’s License with a music education certification.
  2. Willingness to sponsor and/or participate in extra-curricular activities.

Salary/Benefits

$56,364-$67,370 | Health & Dental Insurance | Retirement

Additional Notes

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Perform the physical tasks necessary to monitor, supervise and physically assist students throughout the school day during a variety of instructional activities. Must be able to function effectively in an active, loud environment. Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment as circumstances require.
