Duties
We are seeking a dynamic, student-centered, and collaborative 5th grade teacher to join our team for a full-time position. The ideal candidate will be passionate about upper-elementary education and dedicated to fostering a positive, inclusive classroom culture. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality instruction, ensuring all students are supported academically and socially.
Curriculum & Instruction: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons in the following subject areas:
- Mathematics
- Language Arts & Spelling
- Science
- Response to Intervention (RTI): Utilize data-driven insights to provide targeted, differentiated interventions in reading and math to support students at various learning tiers.
- Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, and productive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and positive behavior.
- Assessment & Grading: Regularly assess student progress using both formative and summative tools; maintain accurate grading records and use data to inform future instruction.
- Collaboration & Communication: Partner effectively with grade-level peers, special education staff, administration, and parents to support student success and holistic development.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an elementary self-contained endorsement (K-9 or 1-6).
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of 5th-grade Illinois Learning Standards.
- Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in integrating educational technology into daily lessons.
