Youth Intervention Specialist

Duties

Performance Responsibilities: Security
1.    Creating a supportive environment:
This includes implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) programs, supporting Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), and delivering staff development on these topics.
2.    Addressing student behavior:
This involves de-escalating incidents, maintaining communication with parents and staff, and referring students to appropriate support systems.
3.    Providing case management:
This includes identifying and assessing at-risk youth, developing and implementing individual student plans, and providing ongoing support through case management.
4.    Facilitating support groups and mentoring:
This involves creating and leading groups that address specific needs and connecting youth with mentors to provide guidance and support.
5.    Connecting youth with resources:
This includes partnering with community organizations, schools, and other stakeholders to provide access to resources that support youth and their families.
6.    Collaborating with other professionals:
This involves working with social workers, educators, psychologists, and other professionals to provide a holistic approach to addressing youth needs.
7.    Monitoring attendance and implementing strategies:
This includes tracking attendance, contacting parents, and developing incentives to improve attendance.
8.    Overseeing peer mediation:
This involves training students to resolve conflicts peacefully.
9.    Developing and implementing programs:
This includes creating and implementing programs that address the educational, social, and emotional needs of youth.
10.    Managing student behavior: 
This involves monitoring student behavior, implementing consequences, and managing in-school suspension programs.
11.    Conducting home visits:
This may involve visiting the homes of chronically absent students to address barriers to attendance.

Qualifications

State of Illinois fingerprinting and background check in compliance with state code and district policy requirements. A fingerprint-based criminal history records check, and a check of the Statewide Sex Offender Database and Violent Offender  Against Youth Database (when available) will be performed on the successful candidate as required by State law. Each newly hired employee must complete an Immigration and Naturalization Service Form as required by federal law. The district retains the right to discharge any employee whose criminal background investigation reveals a conviction for committing or attempting to commit any of the offenses outlined in Section 5/21-23a of The School Code or who falsifies, or omits facts from, his or her employment application or other employment documents.
    Must hold an IL Professional Educator License (PEL) with endorsement 
    General Administrative (Type 75)-preferred
    Strong verbal and written communication skills to initiate and respond to students, teachers, staff, and parents, and demonstrate professional conduct.

Based on the CCSD 180 Teacher Salary Schedule

Additional Notes

The principal reviews performance annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board's evaluation policy.
