Instructional Coach--Dual Language

Duties

  • Maintain familiarity with current educational research and trends through ongoing professional development
  • Ensure alignment exists between instructional planning and assessments in the classroom
  • Model lessons in classrooms on an ongoing basis or as needed
  • Support the professional development of all teachers in understanding the CCSS-aligned curriculum, varied assessments, effective instructional practices, and data analysis
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with teachers, administrators, other coaches, and district partners
  • Represent, champion, and spread awareness of the North Chicago SD 187 mission, core values, and strategic goals
  • Provide guidance and support to collaborative teams within the schools
  • Assist teachers with resources, materials, tools, information, etc., to support classroom planning and instruction
  • Responsible and equitable stewardship, management, and distribution of instructional resources
  • Provide professional development on instructional and classroom environment resources and strategies
  • Implement a data-driven, results-oriented, and evidence-based approach to coaching
  • Facilitate conversations among teachers that result in a common understanding of performance standards and benchmarks
  • Support teachers and administrators in using data to improve instruction on all levels
  • Assist teachers with the planning and pacing of lessons, the development of differentiated lessons, and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of their students
  • Informally observe (non-evaluative) lessons and provide feedback for a teacher's professional growth and students' success
  • Develop staff knowledge, skills, mindset, and behaviors through a variety of professional development on targeted topics and designs
  • Develop coaching plans for teachers to ensure student improvement
  • Contribute to the development of systems and structures to improve teacher practice within schools
  • Be a positive contributor to the climate and culture of the school
  • Provide job-embedded informal professional learning beyond the coaching responsibility
  • Submit a weekly coaching log and any pertinent data requests/coaching documentation as required
  • Complete any other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  1. License:   

Required: Professional Educator License

Preferred: Illinois General Administrative endorsement 

 2. Education:

Required – Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.

Preferred – Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or related field

 3. Experience:  

Required – Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience

Preferred – Experience working as an instructional coach or school administrator

Salary/Benefits

SALARY RANGE:  Commensurate with education and experience, including benefits package. Salary Band IV: $65,000-$110,000
