Duties
Address the social well-being of students by providing comprehensive school social work services, information and counseling to help students, parents and school staff work together to resolve problems by communicating and assisting families in accessing appropriate community resources. Review student records to identify previous barriers and/or interventions. Support students in academic learning by rendering essential services that recognize and resolve environmental, socio-emotional problems that obstruct the educational process. Assist in the development of IEPs/504 plans centered on the overall educational improvement for students, collaborating with school staff to best meet the specific objectives and needs of the student. Assist students in coping with personal and psychological challenges that may have adverse effects on their behavior, school performance, and socialization process. Offer information to external support services or agencies in order to assist students in coping with emotional, physical or economic challenges. Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Act as liaison between students, homes, schools, courts, protective services and other institutions.
Qualifications
Master’s Degree with a valid Illinois Professional Educator License with an approve program/endorsement for an SSW (School Social Worker)
Preferred LCSW-Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
