Description: Anticipated Kindergarten Position
Putnam County Primary School (K-2 building) is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Kindergarten Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate creates a structured, engaging classroom environment that supports both academic growth and the social-emotional development of young learners, while contributing positively to a collaborative staff culture.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging instruction aligned to Illinois Learning Standards
- Implement developmentally appropriate, play-based learning opportunities
- Utilize evidence-based literacy practices, including foundational reading skills
- Maintain consistent classroom routines and expectations
- Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and families to support student success
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsement
- Strong classroom management skills with the ability to build positive relationships and maintain clear expectations
- Works well as part of a team and maintains a positive, professional attitude
- Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with play-based learning and developmentally appropriate practices
- Familiarity with or training in UFLI (University of Florida Literacy Institute) Foundations or similar structured literacy approaches
- Experience using data to guide instruction and differentiate for diverse learners
Salary/Benefits
