Assistant Director of Student Services

Duties

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Assistant Director of Student Services leads daily implementation of student support systems, including discipline, climate, and Tier 2/3 intervention coordination. 

This role ensures consistent behavioral systems and responsive support structures across divisions. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

Discipline & Climate Systems 

  • Oversee discipline processes. 

  • Implement restorative and proactive behavior frameworks. 

  • Monitor referral trends. 

Intervention Coordination 

  • Coordinate Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports. 

  • Support behavior intervention plans. 

  • Ensure accommodations are implemented effectively. 

Crisis Response 

  • Lead crisis management protocols. 

  • Support staff during behavioral escalations. 

Collaboration 

  • Partner with Division Heads to maintain consistent expectations. 

  • Support staff training on classroom management within experiential settings.

  • Perform other duties and assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the CEO to support the evolving needs of the organization.

  • Uses evidence to refine systems rather than react episodically. 

  • Communicates trends clearly to leadership teams 

  • Works closely with Division Heads to ensure consistent expectations. 

  • Partners with the Director of Academics to align behavioral supports with instructional shifts. 

  • Supports teachers in building strong classroom management within experiential environments. 

  • Builds trust with students, families, and staff. 

  • Handles difficult conversations with professionalism and respect. 

  • Maintains confidentiality and discretion. 

  • Ensures documentation accuracy and compliance. 

  • Maintains organized systems for referrals, interventions, and reporting. 

  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail. 

  • Ability to balance warmth and accountability

The Assistant Director of Student Services ensures that discipline systems are consistent, restorative, and aligned to the school's Whole Child philosophy. Through calm leadership, data-informed decision making, and strong relational intelligence, this leader ensures that behavioral supports, Tier 2/3 interventions, and climate systems strengthen, rather than disrupt, instructional excellence.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: 

  • Office-based with regular interaction throughout the school. 

  • Attendance at meetings and events outside regular school hours. 

PHYSICAL CONTEXT OF THE JOB: 

  • Regular travel within the school building and occasional off-site meetings. 

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Educational Leadership or related field (Preferred) 

  • Valid Professional Educators License (PEL) 

  • Minimum 5 years of teaching experience 

  • Prior instructional leadership experience 

  • Experience in experiential or project-based learning environments 

Salary/Benefits

  • Full-time, 11 month position. 

  • Salary and benefits commensurate with experience and locally competitive. 

  • Expected Salary Range: $78,000 - $100,000 annually
