Athletic Director

Duties

The primary function of the Athletic Director is to manage and oversee the District’s interscholastic athletic program and promotes the development of each student who participates in the program.

  1. Promotes a master budget and supervise equipment inventories.
  2. Prepares a master sports calendar that includes conference and non-conference games/events.
  3. Coordinates gym, building and athletic field use with the District Office and maintain the district building use calendar.
  4. Coordinates gym use for practices and games and give final clearance for the use of either the gym or the athletic field.
  5. Coordinates the maintenance program for facilities and fields (including mowing, seeding, weeding, and lining) with advisement from the Superintendent and Maintenance Supervisor.
  6. Verifies that each athlete has on file proof of insurance, a physical examination, a parental consent and an emergency permission form.
  7. Administers the insurance program covering school athletes, and assumes responsibility that all reports and claims are done through the school office.
  8. Works with coaching staff and transportation supervisor to schedule all athletic departure times and provide bus supervision with trip sheets.
  9. Coordinates the hiring and paying of officials, team physicians, athletic trainers, police officers, and emergency personnel.
  10. Assumes overall responsibility for the proper supervision of home games, ticket sales, and the proper handling and accounting of all monies involved.
  11. Assists in selecting, assigning, and evaluating coaching personnel.
  12. Plans and supervises an annual recognition program in each sport for all school athletes.
  13. Maintains records of the results of all high school athletic contests and maintains a record file of all award winners, stating the date and type of award, including athletic scholarships.
  14. I shall be the duty of each building principal and/or immediate supervisor to provide and review all rules with new employees, to annually review all rules with employees, and to document such rules review for employees by name and date.
  15. Performs other duties consistent with the position as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.

Qualifications

  1. Previous experience with athletic programs and/or recreational programs.
  2. Effective interpersonal and leadership skills.
  3. Experience facilitating communication between divergent groups and in group decision making.
  4. Effective administrative and management skills, including the effective utilization of computers, technology, and information management tools.
  5. Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees, parents, and students.
  6. Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner
  7. Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  8. Requires employee to have the ability to push/pull up to 15 lbs.
