Duties
The primary function of the Athletic Director is to manage and oversee the District’s interscholastic athletic program and promotes the development of each student who participates in the program.
- Promotes a master budget and supervise equipment inventories.
- Prepares a master sports calendar that includes conference and non-conference games/events.
- Coordinates gym, building and athletic field use with the District Office and maintain the district building use calendar.
- Coordinates gym use for practices and games and give final clearance for the use of either the gym or the athletic field.
- Coordinates the maintenance program for facilities and fields (including mowing, seeding, weeding, and lining) with advisement from the Superintendent and Maintenance Supervisor.
- Verifies that each athlete has on file proof of insurance, a physical examination, a parental consent and an emergency permission form.
- Administers the insurance program covering school athletes, and assumes responsibility that all reports and claims are done through the school office.
- Works with coaching staff and transportation supervisor to schedule all athletic departure times and provide bus supervision with trip sheets.
- Coordinates the hiring and paying of officials, team physicians, athletic trainers, police officers, and emergency personnel.
- Assumes overall responsibility for the proper supervision of home games, ticket sales, and the proper handling and accounting of all monies involved.
- Assists in selecting, assigning, and evaluating coaching personnel.
- Plans and supervises an annual recognition program in each sport for all school athletes.
- Maintains records of the results of all high school athletic contests and maintains a record file of all award winners, stating the date and type of award, including athletic scholarships.
- I shall be the duty of each building principal and/or immediate supervisor to provide and review all rules with new employees, to annually review all rules with employees, and to document such rules review for employees by name and date.
- Performs other duties consistent with the position as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.
