Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction
Duties
Instruction
- Coordinate the systematic development of a comprehensive curriculum, instruction, and assessment plan
- Consistently analyze data related to teaching and learning
- Work collaboratively with team members to implement curriculum, instruction, and assessments
- Use research and data to continually evaluate instructional programs;
- Provide school and district-wide professional development based on research and data
- Use research and data to make recommendations for the purchase of new instructional materials
Continuous Improvement
- Remain abreast of current trends in teaching, learning, and assessment by attending conferences and workshops based on school/district priorities.
- Conduct and/or participate in workshops, committees, and conferences designed to promote the intellectual, social, and physical welfare of students.
- Monitor school improvement
Communication
- Communicate clearly orally and in writing.
- Promote the mission and vision of the school district
- Maintain a close working relationship with school-based and District-level administrators to ensure information exchange, coordination of efforts, and general support for the decisionmaking process.
- Maintain communication with other agencies and school districts to share and receive information on effective programs and practices.
- Report on the status of curriculum and instructional programs and services, including assessment and evaluation information, at the request of the Superintendent/Board.
- Use a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback.
District Level Planning
- Initiate the development of program goals and instructional objectives on a District wide basis within the scope of School Board policy, administrative direction, and assessed student needs
- Assist in organizational analysis and development
- Assist in the development of policies and administrative guidelines for curriculum and instruction
- Assist in the preparation of the School Board meeting agenda
- Assist the Superintendent in District-wide planning to link the curriculum and instructional program and the use of financial and human resources to the District's goals and objectives
Qualifications
Education/Certification
- Masters Degree in Education Leadership or Curriculum and Instruction
- Professional Educator's License in school administration
- Doctorate in Education Leadership or Curriculum and Instruction preferred
- Superintendent's endorsement is preferred
- EL, Bilingual, and/or SPED endorsement preferred
- Spanish speaker preferred
Salary/Benefits
- $140,000-$175,000
- 15 Sick Days
