Duties
Unity Point School District 140 is accepting applications for a full-time 7th and 8th grade Science teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Candidates must possess a Professional Educator License with proper endorsements as required by the specific position. Candidates must also demonstrate their ability to succeed in providing for engaging student-centered classrooms where the care and achievement of every student takes priority. Preference will be given to applicants who express a desire to sponsor or coach extracurricular activities.
- Assume primary responsibility for increasing student achievement (i.e. mastery of knowledge and skills, character, and high-quality work) by designing and implementing cross-curricular units of study that integrate Science instruction and NGSS
- Create a collaborative student-centered classroom that thrives on differentiated instruction and use of data to provide instruction to students and bring skills to grade level
- Challenge, engage, inspire, and empower all students
- Design lesson plans that allow for flexible, uninterrupted blocks of time that foster deeper learning, content-based literacy
- Engage in professional learning
- Establish clear and consistent assessment and progress monitoring techniques based on evidence to make instructional decisions to meet students’ needs and further their growth.
- Proficiency in the use of technology for individual communication and research
- Cultivate strong partnerships with families.
- Believe every child can learn and reach high levels of academic achievement
- Provide STEM education through a hands-on and project-based learning approach
Qualifications
In filling this position, the candidate should possess the required licensure as specified in the Illinois School Code. The term of employment is for the 2026/2027 school year with the possibility of contractual renewal thereafter.
