Duties
Overview:
The Director of Operations and Technology provides strategic leadership and oversight for the Kane County Regional Office of Education’s (ROE) operational systems and technology infrastructure. This role ensures efficient, secure, and compliant operations across facilities, information technology, data systems, and internal processes, while aligning resources to support organizational goals and service delivery to districts. The Director collaborates closely with cabinet leadership to drive continuous improvement, manage risk, and ensure that operations and technology effectively support staff, programs, and stakeholders.
This position supports the mission, vision and goals of the Regional Superintendent of Schools and acts as an effective and professional representative of the ROE.
Performance Responsibilities:

- Maintain a professional environment at all times.
- Direct all technology activities for ROE.
- Integrate technology into ROE operations (i.e. GED, Certification, Truancy, etc.).
- Statewide, coordinate, manage, and train staff using Health Life Safety App and online compliance App.
- Coordinate and provide professional learning activities related to technology for school district staff.
- Consult school district administration on technology operations.
- Liaison with Regional Board of Trustees for school boundary de-annexation / annexation hearings.
- Facilitate ongoing networking meetings.
- Assist with countywide online job application system for school districts.
- Manage Pearson Testing Center.
- Manage Criminal Background checks for school districts.
- Manage Health Life Safety Visits and Permit process for ROE.
- Oversee Kane County ROE facility and manage building services (i.e cleaning services, work orders, etc.)
- Collaborate with ROE Cabinet.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and other departments within the ROE in the execution of office functions and programming.
- Participate in relevant professional learning opportunities sufficient to ensure professional growth in meeting the needs of the position.
- Exhibit an excellent attendance record.
- Maintain a professional and welcoming environment conducive to supporting those the ROE serves and staff collaboration.
- Any and all responsibilities assigned by the Assistant Regional Superintendent or Regional Superintendent.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Technology or Education required; Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 5–10 years experience in IT and System Operations required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The following knowledge, skills and abilities are applicable to this position:
- Computer database/word processing skills, knowledge of Microsoft, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail are recommended.

- Understanding of school district operations.
- Strong working knowledge of computer systems and digital tools, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, email, and database platforms; demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Google Workspace is required to effectively support organizational operations.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with ROE districts, staff, and vendors, while also demonstrating the initiative and judgment to work independently as required.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to receive constructive feedback, self-reflect and modify practice as needed.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle and current automobile insurance.
Salary/Benefits
Terms of Employment:
- Full-time, twelve (12) month year.
- Work hours, scheduling and assignments are at the discretion of the Assistant Regional Superintendent, Regional Superintendent or designee and per ROE policy.
- The work location for this position is the Kane County ROE.
Salary Range: $100,000 - $115,000
