Duties
Bureau Valley High School is seeking a skilled and effective instructor to teach Physical Education classes with a strong emphasis on Strength and Conditioning in a completely renovated weight room with all new lifting and cardio equipment. The teacher will work to bridge weight training at the junior high and high school levels by:
- Designing and supervising evidence-based weight training, plyometrics, and mobility programs for students and student-athletes.
- Providing expert coaching on proper lifting techniques, exercise mechanics, and equipment safety to prevent injury.
- Implementing fitness testing and using data to monitor student progress, physical development, and physical literacy.
- Adapting exercises and activities to accommodate varying fitness levels and students with diverse physical needs.
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and high-performance weight room environment by upholding rigorous standards for conduct and equipment use.
Qualifications
A current and valid Illinois teaching license with proper endorsements is required. Strength and Conditioning teaching experience in a weight room is strongly preferred.
Salary/Benefits
Salary and benefits are set per the collective bargaining agreement. The district also offers prior years of service on the salary schedule, a tuition waiver for out of district children of staff members, reimbursement for college coursework, and an opportunity to earn early tenure.
