Anticipated Special Education Life Skills Teacher

Duties

Bureau Valley CUSD #340 is seeking a skilled and effective Special Education Life Skills Teacher to lead a classroom of students with cognitive and adaptive needs. Through academic concepts and real-world application, the goal is to prepare students to navigate their world with dignity and the highest possible level of autonomy. The classroom, supported by paraprofessionals, currently hosts three students with an age range of 12-17 in a classroom equipped with areas for academics, cooking, laundry, and sensory needs.

Qualifications

A current and valid Illinois teaching license with proper endorsements is required. Teaching experience leading a Life Skills classroom is preferred, but not required.

Salary/Benefits

Salary and benefits are set per the collective bargaining agreement. The district also offers prior years of service on the salary schedule, a tuition waiver for out of district children of staff members, reimbursement for college coursework, and an opportunity to earn early tenure.

Additional Notes

Opportunities may also be available for candidate to serve as a coach, sponsor, etc.
