Assistant Principal

Duties

DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Be directly responsible to the principal and the superintendent.
  2. Administer disciplinary program and attendance reporting for the assigned portion of the student population.
  3. Attend School Board meetings; attend Board committee meetings when assigned.
  4. Perform student supervision at academic, athletic, and extracurricular events.
  5. Provide leadership for the planning, operation, supervision, and evaluation of the educational program.
  6. Evaluate teaching staff and participate in informal "walk-through" classroom visits as assigned.
  7. Evaluate support staff as assigned.
  8. Participate in the supervision of custodial/maintenance/security personnel.
  9. Participate in the meetings of the Department Chairs, Academic Excellence Team, Administrative Team, SOS (Staff Offering Support), and others requiring administrative leadership.
  10. Assist the superintendent and principal in recruitment and staffing of personnel as assigned.
  11. Participate in the review of the student handbook and district policies, and shall make suggestions to add, delete, and/or modify policies and procedures as needed.
  12. Utilize data to analyze program effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and design/implement initiatives for improvements.
  13. Promote a positive school climate and interpersonal relationships among students, employees, parents, and community members.
  14. Work with other members of the administrative team to jointly oversee and evaluate ACR (Alternative Classroom), lunch detention, study hall, and other related intervention and disciplinary programming.
  15. Assist in the preparation of reports, registration/orientation of students, and staff professional development as assigned.
  16. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum of a M.S. in school administration with a valid Professional Educator License (PEL) with General Administrative Endorsement.
  2. Minimum five years of teaching experience is preferred.
  3. Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.
  4. Strong organizational, time management, and conflict resolution skills are necessary.
  5. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
  6. Ability to push/pull up to 10 lbs.

Salary/Benefits

SALARY RANGE:  $86,000-$100,000

 This position is eligible for medical/dental/vision/life insurance, HSA, EAP services, paid time-off, tuition reimbursement, TRS (Teacher Retirement System), and 401(k).
