Qualifications:
Master's Degree
Current tuberculin test and physical certifying capability of performing job responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations
Background in the development of therapy programs dealing with children and families Proficiency in individual psychological examination, diagnostic techniques and the planning of prescriptive programs
Demonstrates aptitude for successful completion of professional responsibilities
Licensure:
Appropriate Illinois State Board of Education License (PEL) with School Psychologist Pre K through Age 21 Endorsement
REPORTS TO:
Special Education Director
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Client Services
1) Provides individual psycho-therapeutic intervention to students needing
special education placement or programs, or to students with other types of
problems, behavior problems, social and/or emotional problems
2) Provides psycho-therapeutic intervention for parents of the students
described in #1. Such intervention may include individual, family, and/or
group psychotherapy
3) Provides casework services to students through the development of
Individualized Educational Programs
4) Uses professional psychological skills for the diagnosis, remediation and
treatment of students
Program Services
1) Coordinates the individual case study as recommended by a staffing and
referral or re-evaluation process. Such study includes the use of standardized
tests and evaluative techniques on an individual basis; consultations with
school personnel, professional personnel outside the school and with parents
regarding students' adjustment and educational programs; observations of the
student in the classroom or at play; analysis of data; staff conferences; the
writing of reports, and follow-up and re-evaluation
2) Makes recommendations as to placements in programs of special education
3) Assists in the inservice training of teachers
4) Participates as a member of multidisciplinary team affiliated with the program
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Accepts appropriate share of responsibility for total school operations
2) Uses a professional manner in dealing with students parents, co-workers and
community
3) Performs such other professional duties and responsibilities as may be
assigned by the principal and/or district administration
4) Other than for serious and/or extended illness, does not exhibit excessive or
patterns of absences exceeding yearly sick leave allotment
5) Reports for work day, staff meetings and other time commitments in a
punctual manner
6) Attends faculty meetings, department meetings, workshops, institute days
and open house as required
EVALUATION: In accordance with District Policy and Administrative Procedures
SALARY: Based on training and experience in accordance with the Agreement between Indian Springs School District #109 and Indian Springs Council, Local 571 of the IFT/AFT.
