Duties
PURPOSE AND FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, the Director of District Services directs the planning, development, organization, management, direction, and implementation of all aspects of Student Services programs of the District. Recommends students' alternative education plans, administers support to the Directors of Curriculum, assures compliance with school codes and regulations related to Student Services, evaluates assigned Administrators, and performs related work as required.
- Adhere to and enforce board policy, school guidelines, administrative directives, and district standards
- Assist in maintaining an effective and safe school environment
- Work as a team member to meet the needs of the district
- Collaborate with administrators on performance objectives
- Participate in the district’s internal review process for school improvement.
- Submit State reports to ISBE while working collaboratively with the Director of Business and Finance, District Administrators, and as directed by the Superintendent
- Provide professional growth opportunities in organizing, facilitating, and evaluating professional development
- Assist with establishing an optimum learning environment within the district
- Ensure school programs operate effectively
- Work collaboratively with Directors of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessments to coordinate and conduct Instructional Rounds with Administrators and Coaches
- Collaborate with Technology and Assistive Technology departments to ensure the acquisition and usage of appropriate technology devices/equipment for students
- Attend board meetings and prepare reports for the Board as directed by the Superintendent.
- Oversee all things and reports related to student transportation services.
- Conduct student disciplinary hearings
- Serve as the district compliance officer, FOIA officer, and complaint manager
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Superintendent
Qualifications
Education/License Requirement:
General Administrative Certificate (Type 75) required; Doctorate degree preferred
Experience Required:
- Understanding of grants and State reporting
- Understanding of teacher and principal evaluation process
- Must possess and demonstrate skills using computers and software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to learn ISBE reporting systems
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Exhibit a high degree of attention to detail and proficiency in independently performing special assignments with a high degree of accuracy
