Duties
Lockport District 91 is served by two schools, Milne Grove (PK-3 @ 225 students) and Kelvin Grove (4-8 @ 275 students). We are searching for a student-centered leader who communicates effectively, forms strong relationships, and leads collaboratively.
- Demonstrates a sound work ethic and positive attitude while carrying out the responsibilities of the position
- Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school
- Initiates, designs, and implements programs to meet the specific academic and social/emotional needs of all students
- Utilizes appropriate assessment data to analyze student achievement and provides recommendations to maintain or improve achievement for all students
- Prepares and submits the school’s budgetary requests to the central office, and monitors expenditure of funds, including student activity funds
- Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports, records, and all other paperwork required or appropriate to meet local, state, and federal requirements
- Works with the superintendent or designated district office staff on school issues of district-wide importance
- Keeps the superintendent informed of events and activities of an unusual nature, as well as routine matters
- Interprets and enforces district policies and administrative regulations
- Maintains regular communication with students, staff, and parents
- Promotes the school community connection through positive engagement with students, parents, and the larger community
- Leads in the development, articulation, and monitoring of the instructional program
- Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary with adopted district policy
- Structures school time to provide appropriate time to achieve the instructional goals of the school
- Supports the curriculum coordinator in the development, revision, and evaluation of the curriculum at the building level
- Attends special events held to recognize student achievement, school-sponsored activities, functions, and athletic events
- Assumes responsibility for the collection and maintenance of all students’ records
- Keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings when approved by the superintendent
- Assumes the responsibility of his/her professional growth and development through memberships in professional organizations and attendance at appropriate regional, state, and/or national meetings and certification renewal programs
- Supervises all professional, paraprofessional, administrative, and non-professional personnel assigned to the school and evaluates personnel within the adopted district policy using approved tools/forms and procedures
- Assists in the recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating the school’s professional staff
- Creates the master teaching schedule and any special assignments
- Orients newly assigned staff members and assists in their development
- Conducts staff meetings as necessary for the proper functioning of the school
- Supports the in-service orientation and training of teachers, with special responsibility for staff administrative procedures and instructions
- Recommends, according to established procedures, the removal of a teacher whose performance is unsatisfactory
- Assumes responsibility for the administration of the school safety plan
- Supervises the use of the school facilities for both academic and non-academic purposes
- Plans and supervises fire drills and an emergency preparedness program
- Asserts leadership in times of school crises following established Board policy
- Provides for appropriate inventories of property and for the security and accountability for that property
- Supervises all activities and programs that are relevant to the school’s curriculum
- Participates in principals’ meetings and other such meetings as required or appropriate
- Assumes responsibility for all official school correspondence and news releases
- Acts as liaison between the school and community, interpreting activities and policies of the school, and encouraging community participation in school life
- Serves as a member of committees and attends such meetings as directed by the superintendent
- Delegates authority to responsible personnel to assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal
- Assumes responsibility for other duties as assigned by the superintendent
Salary/Benefits
Hiring Salary Range: $85,000 - 115,000
*Salary offered to be commensurate with education and experience.
