Pupil Service Administrator

Duties

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and Building Principals, the Pupil Services Administrator oversees the implementation and maintenance of special education programs and services in alignment with district, state, and federal guidelines. This role involves planning, designing, and managing service delivery by staff; acting as a resource for families and staff; and providing instructional leadership and professional development to support all staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Provide leadership assistance in support of the Superintendent for the development, promotion, and implementation of the District’s priorities and objectives.
  • Provide consultation to and coordination of pupil services.
  • Assume major responsibility for informing school-based teams of laws and regulations.
  • Implement district pupil service procedures and building initiatives.
  • Recommend to the Principal and Assistant Superintendent of Student Services necessary personnel to be employed and participate in the interview and evaluation process.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled meetings with school staff to review student data, enhance communication, and facilitate professional development.
  • Assist in the development of schedules for special education staff, instructional assistants, and related service personnel.
  • Support the IEP team through the discussion of evaluation and student goal data to determine the effectiveness of current services and make recommendations for continuation, addition, or removal of pupil services.
  • Investigate and monitor appropriate placements outside of the district when indicated.
  • Work closely with the Principal in leading the school improvement processes.
  • Oversee the case study process, timelines, and legal requirements.
  • Attend special committee meetings as requested.
  • Focus on creating student-centered decisions.
  • Engage in leadership growth opportunities by participating in professional learning, mentoring programs, and district-led leadership initiatives to enhance instructional leadership skills.
  • Serve as an instructional leader by modeling best practices, supporting curriculum implementation, and providing guidance to staff on effective instructional strategies.
  • Collaborate effectively with staff, families, and the community for the purpose of planning, developing, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating educational services and/or programs.
  • Supervise and evaluate staff, as assigned.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge regarding special education issues, changes in the laws and case law, and educational methods of educating students with disabilities, for the purpose of managing an excellent special education program.
  • Complete other assignments and/or special projects as requested by the building Principal or Assistant Superintendent of Student Services.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, CREDENTIALING and/or EXPERIENCE:

Education 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education
  • Master’s Degree in Education Leadership 

Credentials

  • Successful completion of the ISBE Teacher Evaluation modules
  • Principal or general administrator endorsement

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of successful teaching or school service personnel service in a public education setting
  • Previous administrative experience preferred.

Salary/Benefits

$95,000 - $110,000
