Director of Teachnology & Digitial Learning

The Director of Technology & Digital Learning provides strategic leadership for the planning, training, implementation, and management of the district's technology systems, infrastructure, and instructional technology programs. The Director ensures reliable, secure, and innovative technology services that support teaching, learning, and district operations.

Position Purpose:
The Director of Technology & Digital Learning purpose is to bridge technology operations and instructional leadership to advance digital learning, support effective instruction, and ensure district technology systems operate efficiently, securely, and consistently across all schools.This position will work collaboratively with district leadership and building principals, while supervising the district technology team and supporting technology teams across seven high school campuses serving approximately 12,300 students.

Essential Functions:
1. Provide leadership for the development and implementation of a districtwide technology vision and long-range strategic technology plan aligned with district instructional and operational priorities.
2. Oversee the design, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of district technology infrastructure, systems, and services supporting seven high schools and district operations.
3. Ensure secure, reliable, and scalable technology systems that support teaching, learning, communication, and district business operations.
4. Lead district cybersecurity training, practices, risk management, and compliance with applicable data privacy and technology regulations.
5. Collaborate with principals, district instructional leaders, and building technology departments to support the effective integration of technology into teaching, learning, and assessment.
6. Supervise district technology personnel at district level and coordinate the supervision and support of site-based technology teams in partnership with building principals.
7. Streamline technology service standards, operational procedures, and support systems across all district schools. Manage the district technology budget, vendor partnerships, contracts, and long-term technology planning including infrastructure and device lifecycle management.
8. Support district leaders and staff in the effective use of technology systems and data to inform decision-making and improve organizational effectiveness.
9. Serve as a district leader in evaluating emerging technologies and recommending innovations that support instructional and operational excellence.
10. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
1. Master's Degree in Educational Technology, Information Technology, Educational Leadership, or related field
2. Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with administrative endorsement or eligibility (preferred)
3. Minimum five years of leadership experience in educational technology, information technology management, or instructional technology
4. Demonstrated experience supervising staff and managing complex technology systems in a large organization
5. Knowledge of network infrastructure, cybersecurity practices, enterprise systems, data systems, and instructional technology platforms
6. Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and school sites
7. Prior building-level administrative experience (Department Chair, Principal or Assistant Principal preferred)
8. Experience leading technology initiatives in a large or multi-site school district

Salary/Benefits

Salary Range:
$179,725 to $200,265
