Director of Safety and Security
The Director of Student Safety and Security will embody the district mission, serving the needs of our diverse community by providing relevant and rigorous learning experiences, opportunities for involvement, and strong support systems that empower all students to reach their full potential, while upholding our values of communication and accountability, equity and inclusion, financial integrity, innovative learning, and safety, wellness, and respect.

This role collaborates with district leadership, local law enforcement, and emergency responders to strengthen prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery practices. The Director also supports safety technology, security infrastructure, and safety-related compliance across all district facilities serving approximately 12,300 students.

Position Purpose:
The Director of Safety and Security provides leadership and coordination of district-wide safety, security, and emergency preparedness programs to ensure safe learning and working environments for all students, staff, and visitors. The position oversees the development and implementation of safety protocols, crisis response procedures, and prevention strategies while supporting alternative placement building administrators in maintaining secure schools.

1. Lead and coordinate district-wide/school safety and security programs
2. Develop and implement emergency preparedness and crisis response plans.
3. Serve as liaison with law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency management agencies.
4. Support building administrators in addressing safety concerns, investigations, and crisis situations.
5. Oversee safety technology systems including surveillance, access control, and communication platforms.
6. Coordinate required safety drills and training for staff and students.
7. Oversee truancy for students and alternative placements.
8. Conduct safety assessments and recommend improvements to district facilities and procedures.
9. Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal school safety regulations.
10. Support the development and implementation of district safety policies and procedures.
11. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or designee. 

Qualifications

Qualifications:
1. Degree or certification in Educational Leadership, Criminal Justice, Public Safety, Emergency Management, or related field
2. Experience in law enforcement, school safety, emergency management, or related public safety fields (preferred)
3. Prior school or building administration experience (preferred)
4. Demonstrated experience leading safety programs, emergency planning, or crisis response systems
5. Knowledge of school safety practices, regulations, and emergency management protocols
6. Experience overseeing safety technology systems such as surveillance, access control, and emergency communication platforms
7. Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills

Salary/Benefits

Salary Range:
$179,725 to $200,265
