Director of Curriculum / Multilingual Services

Duties

The Director of Curriculum - Multilingual Services oversees programs and initiatives within the Curriculum Department that support the full continuum of student and staff learning needs, including multilingual services, academic support programs, dual language instruction, family engagement, and multilingual funding. The Director plans, implements, and monitors improvements across all areas of responsibility to ensure high-quality, equitable support for all students and professional development for staff. The role also ensures compliance with state and federal regulations while fostering a cohesive system of services that enhances learning outcomes across the district.

Qualifications

Maintains, evaluates and continuously improves district programs and plans that support multilingual learners and students across the learning continuum. This includes assessing student and staff needs, coordinating professional development opportunities to strengthen instructional practices, and developing, implementing, and revising curriculum, including support for newcomers and students requiring targeted interventions. The Director coordinates a district-wide program for the ongoing evaluation of curriculum, instruction, and service delivery, collaborates with administrators and teachers to analyze assessment results, and uses data to guide instructional improvement. They assist building administrators in enhancing instructional performance in alignment with state standards and district goals and provide updates and reports to the Board on student achievement, assessment outcomes, and program effectiveness. The role ensures that all curricula and programs align with state guidelines and best practices, supporting equitable learning opportunities for all students, serves as a member of the District Curriculum Committee, and leads initiatives informed by research and current trends in curriculum and instruction. The Director implements structures for effective vertical and horizontal articulation to ensure continuity and fidelity of programs and instructional practices across all grade levels, defines and implements support programs such as co-teaching, pull-out, and push-in models as appropriate, and leads teams supporting student and multilingual services, including facilitating team meetings and coordinating strategic planning. Additionally, the Director coordinates testing for multilingual learners and other student groups, provides guidance on data interpretation, offers consultative support to principals, coordinators, and staff regarding curriculum, instruction, assessment, and program implementation, recommends and manages materials, resources, and budgets, oversees grants and ensures compliance with federal and state reporting requirements, promotes family and community engagement in district programs, and maintains accurate records for students receiving specialized services. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications: Appropriate valid Illinois PEL with Elementary or Secondary endorsement, Bilingual/Multilingual and Administrative endorsement required.  Experience as a Building Administrator and/or District Administrator in the area of curriculum and instruction preferred. Must have the ability to communicate successfully with parents and collaborate effectively with staff and colleagues to develop new and better practices. Ability to communicate fluently in Spanish, Ukrainian, and/or Polish (verbal and written) is highly preferred.  

Salary/Benefits

RANGE OF PAY:                   $108,000 - $118,000. Salary Commensurate with Experience
