Function / Position Summary
Provide leadership in social sciences, world languages, and Spanish language arts by developing, facilitating and evaluating all 6-12 district social sciences, world languages, and Spanish language arts curriculum and resources in order to meet the needs of all students. Work collaboratively with stakeholders in the implementation of district curriculum and resources with fidelity in alignment with the district strategic plan to ensure learning experiences that use high impact instructional strategies.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
- In collaboration with representatives from district departments and programs, lead the development of curriculum, assessments, and research-based instructional strategies for secondary social sciences, world languages, and Spanish language arts following standards-based learning and assessment guiding principles.
- Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of standards-based curriculum, curricular resources, instructional strategies, and assessments used for core instruction to ensure alignment and implementation of curriculum across all grade levels, courses, and schools.
- Collaborate with the Coordinator of Elementary Literacy, Libraries, and Social Sciences to ensure consistency and vertical alignment of social sciences for the district.
- Analyze common assessment data and resource usage to communicate a clear and concise plan for continuous improvement in alignment with the district strategic plan.
- Serve as an expert in national trends and best practices in social sciences, world languages, and Spanish language arts program development, including instructional strategies to support all students especially historically underachieving students.
- Plan, provide and evaluate professional learning and ongoing support for all staff to implement social sciences, world languages, and Spanish language arts curriculum and use curricular resources.
- Work collaboratively with other content area coordinators, assistant directors, and directors to ensure equity, alignment, cohesion and integration across departments and grade levels.
- Schedule and facilitate committees and meetings at all levels as directed by district needs.
- Support the distribution and ordering of instructional materials.
- Maintain communication and collaborative partnerships that enhance a positive relationship with all stakeholders.
- Develop and administer a budget which follows established fiscal parameters to make the best educational use of district funds.

Salary/Benefits
The salary range for this position is $100,716.00 - $151,055.00. Our typical practice is to hire in between the minimum and midpoint $125,888.00.
