Duties
This position provides comprehensive nursing services to support the health, safety, and well-being of students throughout the school day. The nurse delivers daily nursing care, responds to medical emergencies, and administers medications and prescribed treatments in accordance with medical orders and district procedures.
The role includes developing, implementing, and maintaining Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs), Emergency Action Plans (EAPs), and medical 504 Plans, as well as managing and monitoring students with chronic health conditions. The nurse is responsible for conducting state-mandated health screenings, maintaining accurate health records, and ensuring compliance with all applicable health regulations and reporting requirements.
Strong communication and collaboration are essential, as the nurse works closely with families, school staff, and outside providers to support student needs and promote a safe, healthy learning environment.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a valid Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license. Candidates must also possess, or be eligible to obtain, an Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Nurse endorsement (formerly known as Type 73). Individuals who currently hold an RN license but do not yet have the School Nurse endorsement may be considered, provided they are actively pursuing the endorsement and able to meet ISBE requirements within a reasonable timeframe established by the District.
Candidates must hold current CPR and AED certification and be a CPR/AED instructor, or be willing to obtain instructor certification as required by the District.
Salary/Benefits
Per CBA: 2026-2027 School year: $45.16/hr
