Duties
The next leader of Manteno Elementary School will be a dynamic leader with a proven track record of preparing students to succeed. The principal will have demonstrated skill in supporting staff to meet organizational and professional goals. They will be well-versed in the Illinois Standards for Leaders and will show competency in all standards. The successful candidate will lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of data-driven school improvement plans in collaboration with the district leadership team, educators, and staff. The Principal will possess the ability to foster a collaborative, positive, safe school culture and climate by building relationships based on trust. The principal will be an advanced instructional leader and support all programs based on the education of the whole-child. This position is a 12 month contract and reports to the Superintendent of Schools.
Responsibilities
- Create an environment of life-long learners and support students in striving for excellence through created opportunities
- Be fiscally responsible and utilize resources to support the education of all learners
- Utilize scheduling practices to ensure instructional time is maximized
- Ensure teachers receive regular, direct, actionable feedback regarding classroom practices and opportunity for growth
- Discuss employee challenges in a manner that is respectful and responsive
- Nurture a school environment that celebrates, respects, and values diversity and where teaching and learning are made meaningful and relevant
- Actively find ways to communicate the success of Manteno Elementary School to the broader community and create partnerships to bring resources to the school
- Advocate for members of the school community and effectively engages families and the community
- Attend 504 and Individualized Education Plan meetings when requested
- Supervise the Assistant Principal and provide opportunities for growth
- Have knowledge of effective practices as well as rules and regulations related to staff supervision, coaching, and evaluation
- Possess knowledge of planning effective professional development opportunities
- Demonstrate ability to collaborate on special education and 504 plans as well as a firm understanding of discipline considerations and procedures
- Show a commitment to partner and collaborate with administrative colleagues
- Promote building the capacity of all staff members
- Demonstrate a growth mindset
- Uphold district and administrative policies and procedures
- Understand and take an active role in crisis-management planning
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and Board of Education
