Middle School Principal

Duties

Instructional Leadership

  • Provide strong leadership in curriculum, instruction, and assessment aligned to state standards and district initiatives.
  • Support high-quality Tier 1 instruction and effective MTSS practices to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of all learners.
  • Observe classrooms regularly, provide timely and meaningful feedback, and support teacher growth through coaching and professional learning.
  • Lead data-informed decision making to improve student achievement and close achievement gaps.

School Culture and Climate

  • Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive school culture built on respect, accountability, and strong relationships. Promote student engagement, attendance, and positive behavior through clear expectations and restorative practices.
  • Support social-emotional learning and student well-being.

Staff Leadership and Development

  • Recruit, hire, support, and evaluate staff in alignment with district expectations and state requirements.
  • Facilitate ongoing professional learning focused on instructional improvement, collaboration, and reflective practice.
  • Build collective efficacy and a collaborative team culture.

Operations and Management

  • Oversee daily school operations, including scheduling, supervision, safety procedures, and building management.
  • Manage the school budget and resources responsibly to support instructional priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal requirements.

Family and Community Engagement

  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and the community.
  • Build strong partnerships with parents and community stakeholders to support student success.
  • Serve as a visible and approachable leader within the school community.

Qualifications

  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Principal Endorsement required.
  • Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or related field.
  • Successful administrative experience at the middle school level preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and MTSS.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead school improvement efforts and support staff growth.
