Duties

Primary Job Responsibilities: Professional Development

  • Under the direction of the EFE Director, the Assistant Director will lead professional development activities in the EFE 330 region, including the activities listed below.
    • Provide professional development and concentrated support for EFE member-district high school CTE programs through the development of ISBE-approved CTE programs of study. The framework for this support will be developed in partnership with the EFE Director and approved by the EFE Governing Board.
    • Develop and coordinate a regional professional development plan for CTE teachers, counselors, and other educational leaders in the EFE 330 region
    • Develop and coordinate the regional CTE teacher leadership professional development cohort
    • Develop and coordinate the regional Counselor leadership professional development cohort
    • Develop and coordinate the regional new-CTE teacher professional development cohort
    • Collaborate with middle schools and high schools to recommend a regional plan for a career and college readiness online platform. Once selected, implement a professional development plan for schools to effectively utilize the selected platform.

 

 

Additional Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and pilot a summer internship program for high school students in the EFE 330 region
  • The Assistant Director will be required to complete the ISBE Work-Based Learning Online Course within first year of employment
  • Work with the EFE Director to provide necessary support for high schools to complete the ISBE-required CTE Local Needs Assessment (LNA)
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to create and coordinate school-specific and/or regional team-based challenges. This will be determined based on school need, as part of the framework for support.
  • Collaborate with EFE staff and community stakeholders to develop an enhanced 8th Grade Career Conference
  • Collaborate with EFE Director, high school CTE programs, and EFE office staff on Illinois State Course System review and approval of CTE courses
  • Develop and coordinate relevant regional employer advisory committees, as assigned by Director
  • Assist and coordinate additional projects, as requested, which could include existing EFE projects: 8th Grade Career Conference, Trade-Up, Manufacturing Day, Future Educators’ Conference, Summer Construction, etc.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) and at least five years of successful teaching experience at the K-12 level
  • Ability to effectively use technology to complete job responsibilities

 

Preferred Qualifications

This position does not require an administrative endorsement, but the ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Master’s degree in Educational Leadership with Administrative Endorsement
  • A valid Professional Educator License (PEL) in one of the main CTE areas: Agriculture, Business, Family and Consumer Science, or Industrial Technology
  • At least five years of successful CTE teaching experience at the K-12 level

Salary/Benefits

Compensation

This is an 11-month (July off), Teacher’s Retirement System (TRS) position.  Base salary will be in the $80,000 – $85,000 range.  Benefits will include board-paid TRS/THIS, paid vacation/sick days, individual health, dental, and life insurance.

Additional Notes

Start Date

This position will begin in the 2026-2027 school year.  The official start date will be determined once a candidate is hired, but will be no later than August 3, 2026.

 

Travel Requirements

The Assistant Director will be required to travel to national ACTE conference every other year and multiple state CTE conferences annually.  Travel expenses will be covered or reimbursed by EFE 330.
