Duties
Crystal Lake School District 47 currently has an opening for a Director of Math, Science, STEM, and Health Instructional Programs, with the position set to commence on July 1, 2026. The Director of Math, Science, STEM, and Health will work collaboratively with the Assistant Superintendent of Student Learning on Pre-K-8 Math, Science, STEM, and Health curricula.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate the Pre-K-8 Math, Science, STEM, and Health instructional programs
- Serve as a primary District 47 resource on all matters related to Math, Science, STEM and Health
- Support staff in analyzing and interpreting data for continuous improvement of student achievement in Math, Science, STEM, and Health
- In collaboration with the Dir. of Continuous Improvement, organize and implement research-based professional development opportunities for teachers and administrators to improve student achievement in Math, Science, STEM, and Health
- Oversee and monitor the implementation of the district’s comprehensive core Math, Science, STEM, and Health programs
- Facilitate and monitor the alignment of standards to the Math, Science, STEM, and Health curricula, as well as reflect the standards in assessments, report cards, etc.
- Remain updated regarding best-practice research and state requirements in Math, Science, STEM, and Health instruction
- Coordinate the development of math, science, STEM, and Health curricula; lead the process in recommending curriculum resources for adoption and implementation in coordination with the Asst. Supt.. of CIA
- In collaboration with the Dept. of CIA, support the facilitation, training, data-review and professional learning for components of the MTSS framework district-wide
- In collaboration with the Director of Continuous Improvement, develop, monitor the impact of, and recommend district-wide Math intervention programs
- Research, recommend, support and/or lead STEM learning opportunities
- Coordinate matters related to Erin’s Law
- Coordinate curriculum and assessment related matters with high school staff
- Other duties and tasks as assigned
Qualifications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a math or science teacher in the public school setting
- Professional Educator License with:
- Math endorsement, preferred
- General Administrative endorsement
- Teacher Evaluator designation
- Science endorsement, preferred
- Master’s Degree in Mathematics, preferred
- Demonstrated track record of improving student Math and Science skills
- Outstanding presentation, facilitation, and organizational skills
- Proficient with Google applications/programs and Microsoft Office
- Successful experience facilitating groups, training, or working in a coaching position
- Proven organizational and time management skills
- Ability to lead and manage complex projects
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, supervisory personnel, and administration
- Excellent consultation and collaboration skills
- Excellent communication skills – written, verbal, and presentation
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrate high levels of flexibility, have excellent interpersonal communication skills, articulation, concentration, confidentiality, organization and maintain a positive attitude.
- Shall have the ability to sit, stoop, and possibly lift up to 50 pounds or more. Perform any and all body movements as related to the job description.
Salary/Benefits
Starting salary for this position is $126,740 with the potential to increase based on various factors.
