Objective
The Dean of Restorative Behavior will work to support the process by which children and adults develop fundamental emotional and social competencies and experiences. The Dean of Restorative Behavior will work with the building administration and SEL Coordinator to provide oversight of restorative practices to improve student behavior, establish effective rapport with students and families to develop attitudes and knowledge needed for a safe and orderly school environment. The Dean of Restorative Behavior leads/supports the implementation of restorative practices at tiers 1, 2 and 3 including collaborative wrap-around community supports.

- Ensures that all actions are compliant with established Board policies as well as the mission, vision and values defined by the district and Board of Education.
- Carries out such additional duties as required or as conditions necessitate.
- Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Utilize the Code of Conduct to determine and/or implement consequences and their logical restorative outcomes.
- Implement consequences and restorative practices as it relates to individual student behavior plans.
- Collaborate with building level MTSS and clinical teams.
- Collect and analyze student behavior intervention data through an equity lens.
- Collaborate with the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to ensure socially just consequences and practices.
- Assist in the implementation of goals and objectives of the school improvement plan.
- Consults with building administration and staff concerning behavioral and social emotional learning needs of students.
- Lead parent education meetings on a regular basis.
- Conduct and collaborate on building threat assessment procedures.
- Provides professional development to support restorative practices, the code of conduct, and effective restorative classroom management.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
- Supports the Mental Health Crisis Response as needed per the director of student services
- Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative
Qualifications
- Professional Educator License (PEL) required
- Master’s Degree or equivalent in related field, preferred
- Valid Illinois Administrative Endorsement, preferred
- Experience in the area of Social and Emotional Learning and/or Restorative Practices required
- Bilingual candidate preferred, but not required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Highly-developed communications skills (written/verbal) and interpersonal savvy
- Strong knowledge and becomes an expert resource on social and emotional learning
research, evaluation, strategies, theories, techniques, and methods of instruction for the
district.
- Has successful experience designing and delivering professional development.
- A track record of developing and maintaining strong working relationships with and
among a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Strong organizational, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well independently as well as collaboratively
- Ability to execute meetings, calls and emails with professionalism, courtesy and accuracy
- Ability to effectively allocate and prioritize time to several tasks to ensure completion
- Knowledge of district policies and procedures applicable to student support services and
programs
- General knowledge of principles, practices and legal requirements of special education

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment as well as in schools/classrooms. This
role routinely uses standard office computer equipment such as computers, laptops and servers.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel
may be expected.
Education and Experience
- Professional Educator License (PEL) required
- Master’s Degree or equivalent in related field, preferred
- Experience in the area of Social and Emotional Learning and/or Restorative Practices required
- Bilingual candidate preferred, but not required
