Program Monitor (Principal Consultant #1371)

Duties

Reporting to the Supervisor, assists in the administration of department grant programs; provides ongoing technical assistance and monitoring of grant programs; reviews and offers support to stakeholders and constituents with respect to statutory and regulatory mandates of the Illinois School Code and the 23 Illinois Administrative Code.

  • Administers department out of school grant programs including, but not limited to, 21st Century, after school programs, and Freedom Schools.
  • Responds to and participates in the request for technical assistance and other inquiries and concerns from schools, districts, parents, students, the general public and all other relevant stakeholders with respect to all areas of public school compliance. 
  • Provides assistance to agency staff who have questions with respect to compliance issues in program areas to ensure effective cross-department collaboration on common issues. 
  • In coordination with the Agency's Records Management Coordinator, serves as department liaison for records management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, Healthcare, Business, Finance or related field plus two years of relevant professional experience. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)
  • Two years of experience (in addition to education requirements) working in or with a school district, regional office of education, community based organization, nonprofit state agency or other related experience.
  • Knowledge about out-of-school time opportunities or academic supports and enrichment activities that may extend beyond the school day, e.g. before/after school, summer, weekends and parent nights. 
  • Ability to present complex information to lay and professional audiences effectively in formal and informal settings. 
  • Ability to work effectively with and within diverse teams. 
  • Ability to identify and locate resources. 
  • Ability to define problems and apply problem solving techniques. 
  • Ability to coordinate and lead projects. 
  • Ability to set schedules and timelines. 
  • A passion and desire to create fair and equitable opportunities for school-age youth. 
  • Highly effective communication skills. 
  • Knowledge of school code and administrative rules. 
  • Knowledge of implementing grant funded programs. 
  • Knowledge of ESSA.
