DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The list of duties and responsibilities is meant to be illustrative, rather than inclusive and will vary in duties and responsibilities in relation to job location. Accordingly, the list is not meant to be restrictive on the work which can be assigned the employee.
- Under the supervision of the licensed teacher, prepares for classroom activities.
- Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of teachers.
- Works with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.
- Uses the computer to facilitate reinforcement of classroom instruction.
- Grade papers under the supervision of a teacher, Help record grades.
- Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on sympathetic understanding of the individual students, their needs, interest, and abilities.
- Helps student’s master equipment or instructional material as assigned by the teacher.
- Distributes and collects workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction.
- Assists individual children in need of special attention, including riding of school busses to assist with supervision of students.
- Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the teacher.
- Assists students in making up missed assignments or tests.
- Assists teachers with non-instructional duties, such as snack and bathroom supervision.
- Alerts the teacher and/or principal to any problems or special information about any individual student.
- Supervises students during breakfast period, lunch period, recess, bus arrivals and departures
- If employed as a Special Education Paraprofessional, escorts students to mainstream class and remains with student – for an inclusion relationship.
- Participates in in-service training programs when applicable.
- Performs any other instructional/academic duties and/or tasks as assigned by the teacher and principal.
