PART-TIME PARENT EDUCATOR - PRESCHOOL FOR ALL (Saratoga Elementary School Site)
JOB DESCRIPTION: The purpose of the position of Parent Educator is to work with the teachers, administrators, and parents to coordinate and advocate for family involvement to facilitate children’s learning.
- Collaborate with teachers to plan and implement programs and services.
- Develop and implement "welcome" activities to encourage parent/family participation and partnership in the PFA program.
- Organize and lead diverse programs for parents and children at flexible times.
- Facilitate parent education, playgroups, and family development programs.
- Maintain accurate records of meeting agendas, facilitators, presenters, and attendance (e.g., parent sign-in sheets).
- Conduct home visits and provide support to parents and their children.
- Coordinate resources to promote active parent participation in school activities/organizations.
- Evaluate program effectiveness regularly and stay current with field trends and developments.
- Recommend and arrange new programs as needed.
- Collaborate with local and state agencies.
- Manage supplies and equipment for program activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the position's goals and objectives.
Qualifications
Preferred education or experience in child development, early childhood education, social work or a related field. Parent Educator should hold an Illinois Paraprofessional license or be willing to obtain.
Salary/Benefits
Parent Educator will work no more than 20 hours, between Morris Grade School and Saratoga Elementary School.
Starting rate is $18.00/Hour, but may increase due to experience.
