Duties

Have experience with, or a willingness to learn, how to implement the core practices for Student Growth Coaching.

Facilitates Student Growth Coaching cycles across grade levels and disciplines.

Uses student data when co-planning lessons with teachers.

Uses the co-teaching techniques for Student Growth Coaching when working in classrooms.

Collaborates with teachers to design and use formative assessments.

Creates opportunities for discourse among teachers and students.

Works with teachers to ensure student ownership, engagement, and choice.

Provides informal support to teachers in the areas of classroom management, curriculum design, or other expressed needs.

Collaborates with teachers to create a culture of rigor, inquiry, and reflection by probing ideas and further pressing students to explore their intellect.

Engages in weekly meetings with the principal to discuss the implementation of Student Growth Coaching.

Partners with the principal to build a culture for coaching.

Builds trusting, respectful, and professional relationships with teachers.

Engages in reflective dialogue with others.

Models being a reflective practitioner and supports others to reflect as well.

Maintains a friendly, flexible, and collaborative disposition.

Collaborates with colleagues to facilitate professional learning.

Works with teams of teachers to unpack curricular units.

Assists with the development of district curriculum, instruction, and assessments.

Demonstrates presentation skills for conducting professional learning.

Completes other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Valid and properly registered Professional Educator License, issued by the Illinois State Educator Preparation and Licensure Board, administrative endorsement not required

Trained, or willingness to be trained, to use peer-to-peer coaching best practices 

Possess effective oral and written communication skills as well as effective listening skills

Physically and emotionally able to perform job responsibilities

Skilled in the use of office computer equipment, related software applications, and other standard office machines

Able to gather data, compile information, prepare reports and use to improve performance

Able to make procedural decisions and judgments

Able to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community including both experienced and inexperienced teachers

Able to attend to detail and perform multiple concurrent tasks

Able to set goals and establish methods for achieving goals

Knowledge in content area and accompanying pedagogy

Knowledge of resources available to best support personal and student growth
