English Learner Teacher

Duties

George O. Barr Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a full-time elementary, English Learner teacher. The ideal candidate will foster a positive and engaging learning environment for students in grades K-5, promoting academic excellence and social development. The teacher will be responsible for implementing a comprehensive curriculum, adapting teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students, and collaborating with colleagues and parents to support student growth.

Responsibilities

  • Team teach alongside classroom teachers and provide students with English Learner instruction within the classroom environment.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with state standards and meet the diverse needs of students
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love for learning.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress through formal and informal assessments, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
  • Utilize various teaching strategies and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Maintain open communication with parents and guardians regarding student performance, behavior, and any concerns.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with educational best practices.
  • Contribute to a positive school culture by engaging in school-wide initiatives and community events.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively, implementing positive discipline techniques to create a safe and respectful learning environment.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and assessments.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with licensure to teach EL students.
    - Valid teaching certification for elementary education.
    - Strong understanding of child development and effective teaching methodologies.
    - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
    - Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning experiences.
    - Ability to adapt to changing educational environments and work collaboratively as part of a team.
    - Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
    - Prior teaching experience in an elementary setting is preferred but not required.
    - Background check and clearance to work with children.

Salary/Benefits

This is a full-time equivalent position.  The base salary for a 1.0 full-time position is $48,205.  The District pays 95% of single health insurance policy, plus $15,000 of life insurance.  Employee-paid dental and vision plus flex plans are also available.  17 sick days and 2 personal days per year.
